The short version
- DebtShift is a free information site. We do not sell anything and we do not sell your data.
- We use cookies for analytics and, once enabled, advertising. You choose which ones in the cookie banner.
- If you email us or join our list, we keep your details only to reply or send what you asked for.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.
1. Who we are
This site, debtshiftai.com, is operated by H Ali Logistics Ltd, a UK company (company number 17154525), trading as DebtShift. We are the “data controller”, which means we decide how your personal data is used.
Questions about this policy or your data: admin@debtshiftai.com.
2. What we collect
When you use the site
Our servers and our analytics tools record technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how long you stay and the website you came from. Cookies and similar technologies help collect this. See section 5.
When you use our calculators
The figures you type into a tool, such as balances, interest rates and payments, are used to work out your result and are not saved unless you ask us to email your results. If you choose to enter your email address in a tool, we email your results to that address and keep the address, the date, which tool you used and the result figures we emailed you, so we can show you what we sent and answer questions about it. If you tick the optional box, we will also send you occasional emails with debt tips and new free tools, a few a month at most. If you leave the box unticked, we use your address only for that one email. Every email has an unsubscribe link. We do not share your email address with third parties for marketing. We do not ask for names, account numbers or card details in any tool, and you should never enter them. To have your email address deleted, write to admin@debtshiftai.com and we will reply within one month.
When you contact us or join our list
If you send a message through our contact form or by email, we collect your name, email address and whatever you tell us. If you subscribe to our emails, we collect your email address and the date you signed up.
What we do not collect
We do not collect payment details, because we do not sell products. We do not knowingly collect special category data (such as health data), and we ask you not to send it to us.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
| What we do | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Run and secure the website, prevent spam and abuse | Legitimate interests: keeping the site working and safe |
| Understand which pages help readers (analytics) | Consent, where cookies require it; otherwise legitimate interests |
| Show advertising that pays for the site | Consent, through our cookie banner |
| Reply to your messages | Legitimate interests: answering what you asked |
| Send you emails you signed up for | Consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link |
| Keep company records | Legal obligation |
We do not make decisions about you using automated profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects.
4. Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run the site. They process data for us under their own terms and privacy policies:
- Hostinger, our website host and email provider. Privacy policy
- Google Analytics, to measure site use. Google privacy policy
- Google AdSense, to show advertising, once enabled on this site. How Google uses data from sites that use its services
- Brevo, to send our emails. Privacy policy
- WPForms, to handle our contact and sign-up forms on our own website. Privacy policy
- CookieYes, to run our cookie banner and record your choices. Privacy policy
We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose it if the law requires, or to protect our legal rights.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. When your data is transferred abroad, we rely on safeguards the UK recognises, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract terms.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. When you first visit, you are asked which cookies you accept. Visitors in the UK and the European Economic Area see a Google-certified consent message, where you can accept or decline advertising and analytics cookies. Other visitors see our cookie banner. Apart from strictly necessary cookies, we only use cookies for analytics and advertising with your consent where the law requires it.
| Category | What it does | Needs consent? |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Keeps the site working and remembers your cookie choice | No |
| Analytics | Google Analytics counts visits and shows us which pages are read | Yes |
| Advertising | Google AdSense uses cookies to show and measure ads, including ads based on your interests | Yes |
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.
Advertising choices
Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalised ads at Google Ads Settings or opt out through aboutads.info. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the browser add-on.
6. How long we keep your data
- Analytics data: no longer than 14 months. This is the longest setting Google Analytics allows.
- Messages and contact form entries: up to 24 months after our last message, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Email list: until you unsubscribe. We then keep only a record that you opted out, so we do not email you again.
- Company records: as long as the law requires.
7. Your rights (UK)
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete your data, in many cases;
- limit or stop how we use it, including objecting to uses based on legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what we did before you withdrew.
Email admin@debtshiftai.com. We reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.
If you have a complaint, please contact us first and we will look into it and tell you the outcome. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
8. Readers in the EU and the US
If you live in the European Economic Area, you have similar rights under the EU GDPR and can complain to your local data protection authority.
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal data we collect, to ask us to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data for advertising. We do not sell personal data for money. Some advertising cookies can count as “sharing” under these laws, and you can turn them off in the cookie banner at any time. To make a request, email us at the address above.
9. Links to other websites
Our pages link to other sites, such as StepChange, GOV.UK and the NFCC. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices. Read their policies before sharing anything.
10. Children
DebtShift is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us data, email us and we will delete it.
11. Keeping your data safe
The site uses HTTPS, and access to our systems is restricted. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
12. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data in a significant way, we will tell you on the site.
