It is written for people in the UK and the US, and the rules differ between countries and, in some cases, between England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and between US states. Your situation may be different from the examples we use.
Calculators give estimates
Our tools work from the figures you enter and from the rules and averages we describe on each page. Results are estimates, not offers, quotes or guarantees. A lender, creditor or court may decide differently. Check the figures against your own statements before you act.
We try to be accurate, and we date our sources
We check articles against official sources such as GOV.UK, the Financial Conduct Authority, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission, and we show a review date on each page.
